I had read a report earlier which said that an estimated 100 billion plastic bags are used in the United States every year, and it further said that, although plastic bags are recyclable, less than 3% of them are actually recycled. Now this is something we should really be concerned about.

Shocking facts Sam. There has been a move towards even thicker plastic bags here in the UK which is supposed to reduce the amount of those flimsy plastic bags. HMm well it just means this thicker plastic bag takes longer to biodegrade. Nobody ever wins.
People use plastic bags as bin liners so these are going directly into landfill. Anythig that is contaminated with food cant be recycled. The sooner there is a system in place to collect people food waste so it can be composted and people are enforced ( yes enforced because most wont do anything out of choice sadly) to use biodgradeable bin liners that will compost down easily the better.

I really love recyclable grocery bags. It gives me convenience in my shopping. When I buy again the next day, I don’t need to think for a container or plastic bag or something.
