Google Panda and Penguin Updates: The Search Giant still values Quality Paid Directories.

What makes a quality paid directory still valuable in your SEO and marketing campaigns?

A quality paid directory is usually human edited and uses editorial discretion being quite choosy about the businesses that advertise in them.

But with all the hype about paid links, sites losing page rank, being removed from the index of google search, I have had to get my head around the current situation rapidly so I can continue with my mission, which relies almost entirely on ethical businesses investing in paid advertising in our directory.

So wasn’t I pleased when I finally came across this video of Matt Cutts discussing advertising in paid directories and how these “paid for posts” are regarded by google?

I know there are other search engines but at the end of the day Google still remains the most prominent and so their Panda and Penguin updates are not to be sniffed at. Hey I’m not going to sniff at anything that can improve the quality on the web and I for one have always been annoyed at all those sites who draw us in only to find their pages are plastered with google ads. Google it seems are busily trying to mop up the mess that they potentially created in the first place… and they are managing to do quite a good job I am sure of that!

 

If you listen carefully to what Matt is saying you will realise that you really do need to find paid directories that use “editorial discretion”

If you advertise in a directory that allows just any site or business to advertise just by simply handing over the money then it is likely that at some point that directory will be reported, flagged  and removed from the search index and you will have lost all of your money probably along with some of your own business’ credibility too. Even the top SEO firms are now contacting quality paid directories on behalf of thier clients to build a credible back-linking portfolio and increased awareness for businesses on the web. Now that’s saying something about the way the world of white hat SEO is evolving too.
