There has never been a greater push to save the environment than there is today. People have been recycling items like plastic for decades, but that was only a small part of the effort to go green today. It’s no longer looked upon as solely the responsibility of the customer anymore. Companies are also making the effort to save the environment one step at a time along with their customers. One of the areas where this is really prominent is technology.

Recycling phones
was big news as many people made the transition from analog to digital phones. It became a big deal again as customers started making the transition to smart phones. One of the biggest supporters of the green movement in technology, however, is not in the area of cell phone technology.

Internet providers top the list as one of the biggest movements in green technology measures because the customer base for this field is huge. Having high speed internet has become such an intricate part of the daily lives of most individuals. Many people view this as a necessity that is included in the list of monthly bills.

This is why it is important for ISPs to support the go green initiative.

Time Warner Cable is one of several internet providers that have enticed customers to go paperless with monthly billing statements. The customers that decided to pay online have the ability to enter a sweepstakes to enter an array of different prizes. The grand prize is a 2011 Lexus HS 250H. Other prizes include a Samsung 46″ HDTV, MacBook Pro computer and a Panasonic Digital Phone.

Charter communications has also lead customers to their website in efforts to go green. A hybrid vehicle was being given away in a sweepstakes to promote paperless ordering for internet services that were bundled with cable or phone services.

These are major efforts by the large corporations to save the environment, but the large companies are not the only ones that recognize the value of going green.

Some companies like Red Jellyfish may not be as well-known as some of the other ISP giants, but it’s actually one of the original green ISPs.

This company has done everything from fund raising for the rainforest to using recycled materials for mailings. They have even taken an extreme step in energy conservation by using energy credits to run their servers.

The efforts are not in vain. Many customers actually take the time to look for green ISPs. This works as a two-way street for companies that make an attempt to implement green practices within their organization. Corporations get the chance to help the environment and the potential to obtain more customers. Everyone wins with Green ISPs.
