Ford is making further big steps forward in Eco performance by installing their innovative EcoBoost technology into its Focus ST

Stemming from their highly acclaimed 1.0L EcoBoost that was able to rival the 1.6 Zetec in the standard Focus, Ford have doubled the engine capacity, producing a hot 250bhp. In fact, this is a 28bhp increase over the current model.

You really can still be green with your motoring whilst still pandering to your inner need for your ego boost and owning the best in technology :-)

whats the best in green cars without compromising on style and technology?

Speed

The current ST hits 60mph in 6.7secs and will keep going to 150mph, so with the added grunt, and if Ford can keep the weight down and hit 6.5secs, it will have the performance to rival the Renault sport Megane 250, the mighty Alfa Romeo Giulietta Cloverleaf and the VW Golf GTI.

2013 Model

The 2013 Focus certainly looks aggressive on the outside, with its gaping front intake and angry headlights. As for the interior, it seems to be inspired by the 1997 Batman suit, a matter of taste, but it does blend well with the sporty features, like the racing-inspired aluminium shifter and pedals. You also get body hugging RECARO seats that place you in front of the unique instruments and technology, such as Ford’s voice-activated SYNC TOUCH – this keeps you informed while you keep your hands on the wheels and eyes on the road. The sounds comes courtesy of Sony’s Audio System with HD Radio and 10-speaker surround sound.

Gripping this beast to road are 18-inch alloy wheels with unique Y-spokes that fill the wheel arches nicely. With summer tyres, this Focus ST takes corners fast with little unbalance. This is also thanks to the uniquely tuned sport suspension. Ford’s high-performance front and rear disc brakes match the power output, galvanising the Focus ST’s street-fighter status.

Sound Symposer

It’s not just its looks that are aggressive; the muscular high-performance exhaust that peeks out through a central dual-pipe at the rear of the vehicle is tuned to growl at idle and roar under power. To give the driver even more satisfaction, the Focus ST is equipped with a sound symposer box so – it’s designed to enrich the sounds of the engine by capturing internal oscillations and piping them through the interior.

EcoBoost Unit

Ford takes their environmental commitment seriously. People want refinement and performance and are not willing to compromise.

The big question is whether this EcoBoost unit kicks out the same charisma as the current 2.5-litre 5-cylinder unit that supports the current ST and RS – now being killed off by new emissions regulations. I’m thinking it will not only match the previous ST’s excitement, but will throw a little fire into the mix too.

Ford have a great reputation for good deprecation and you can often find used ford cars for sale quickly after production so if you can afford an EcoBoost Model after production see what deal you can find from reputable Ford second hand car sales sites and dealerships and you can be a part of the green revolution.
